Battle of TSUSHIMA (Battle of the Sea of Japan: Japanese Naval official name)

In order to recover the disadvantaged military situation, Russian Czar had ordered to deploy the Second Pacific Fleet commanded by VADM Rojestvensky in October 1904 and after that on the 15 February next year, the Third Pacific Fleet to the Far East from Libau naval port, the Baltic Sea. (These Russian 2nd and 3rd Pacific Fleets were named generically as the Baltic Fleet ).

With the confident assurance that the Baltic Fleet would pass through the Tsushima Strait heading to Vladivostok, Admiral Heihachiro Togo, Commander-in Chief of the Combined Fleet assembled the fleet in Chinhae Bay at the southern tip of Korean Peninsula and waited the enemy fleet while continuing to provide hard training. to his fleet. In the early morning on 27 May 1905, upon receiving the report of enemy fleet sighted from SHINANO-MARU, a converted cruiser, the Combined Fleet got underway immediately. The Combined Fleet intercepted the Russian fleet off Tsushima and annihilated it with continued fierce battle over two days, 27 & 28 May and forced them surrender.
